National Oil Corporation (NOC) chairman Eng. Mustafa Sanalla received His Excellency Mr Wang Qimin, China’s Chargé d’Affaires in Libya, and an accompanying delegation, on November 28, 2018. Parties discussed prospects for bilateral cooperation and market entry opportunities for Chinese oil companies in Libya. Chairman Sanalla expressed his satisfaction with the high volume of Chinese imports of Libyan oil, year-to-date $3.5 billion in 2018; more than double the 2017 figure ($1.7 billion).
The Chargé d’affaires praised the chairman and NOC for its steadfast and stable contribution to the Libyan economy, and the importance of NOC being allowed to continue its work unhindered. Sanalla encouraged Chinese oil companies to return to Libya and expressed his gratitude to the Chinese government for its ongoing support of NOC – thereby helping guarantee Libyan economic prosperity, and stability.
“We are rightly proud of our growing relations with China, and look forward to enhancing and broadening them further to serve the common interests of both the Libyan and Chinese oil sectors,” said Sanalla.
