Job Role Summary

ExxonMobil Research and Engineering Company has an immediate opening for a Member of the Technical Staff in the area of Advanced Vehicles and Fuels, Fuel Products in Annandale, New Jersey. The successful candidate will have a broad background in fuel technology with core expertise in product applications.  Experience with fuel combustion and chemistry effects is required.  Candidate must have interest in and ability to review and summarize extensive, complex regulatory language and provide technical guidance on fuel products impacts.

Job Role Responsibilities

The advisor will:

  • Provide understanding and technical knowledge of fuel products and their applications to support ExxonMobil business objectives
  • Provide analysis, including Life Cycle Analysis (LCA), associated with characterizing, modeling, and assessing environmental performance of products and processes associated with the energy and petrochemical industry
  • Conduct analysis related to understanding fuel combustion and chemistry effects
  • Lead global initiatives for advanced vehicles and fuels in anticipation of regulatory requirements and industry trends
  • Identify and lead collaborations with third parties on advanced vehicles and fuels
  • Review and summarize extensive, complex regulatory language and provide technical guidance on fuel products impacts
  • Represent ExxonMobil at industry and academic meetings by attending and presenting technical papers and approved ExxonMobil policy positions

Expected Level of Proficiency

  • A BS, MS, or Ph.D. in engineering (chemical, environmental, mechanical), environmental science, chemistry, or related field is required
  • 10+ years of academic or industry experience in the area of fuel products development, fuel technology, or energy system modeling
  • Strong interest in fuel applications and fuel technology
  • Willing to travel internationally and relocate domestically
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Experience with kinetic modeling desired
