We are continuing to grow the geotechnical and engineering geology team in our Warrington office.
The Warrington geotechnical team is part of our ground engineering group in the Europe, which in turn forms part of a global practice. Members of these groups are linked by close technical and project delivery networks, which enhance the opportunity to develop your technical skill and engineer a rewarding long-term career.
You will work within a team who deliver geotechnical services within a large variety of civil engineering and infrastructure projects, including highways, rail, water, ports and bridges. Your main role will be to provide geotechnical design calculations, support project delivery through desk studies, design/supervision/ interpretation of ground investigations and, potentially, support during construction.

Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities
The Assistant Geotechnical Engineer will work within project teams and will report to project / package managers. The priorities of the role are likely to include:
•Undertaking a wide range of geotechnical studies and assessments.
•Undertaking elements of geotechnical calculations and design work: e.g. earthworks and slope stability
•Assisting with planning, procurement, design and supervision of ground investigations
•Assisting with the preparation / delivery of technical notes, desk studies, feasibility studies, interpretative reports, drawings and engineering geology / geotechnical reports
•Assisting with preparation of technical specifications
•Liaising with contractors and clients, both external and internal
•Managing budgets for tasks on behalf of project / package managers
•Undertaking site based assignments
The minimum qualifications for this position are:
The minimum qualification is:
•First degree in civil engineering, engineering geology (or an appropriate closely related discipline, with good geotechnical engineering coverage
•A post-graduate qualification (MSc or PhD) in geotechnical engineering, soil mechanics or a closely related subject would be advantageous.
A full valid Driving Licence is highly desirable.

•Have a sound academic knowledge and an appreciation of geotechnical design principles and practice (and related fields)
•Have an interest in planning, designing, procuring, supervising / managing and interpreting ground investigations
•Knowledge of geotechnical software and design codes and standards
•Awareness of commonly used forms of contract (NEC, ICE etc)
•Good communication skills with fluency in verbal and written English
•Numerate
•Computer literate in MS Office package (or similar)
•Problem solving & analysis skills
•Team player but with an ability to work independently when required
•Planning & organisational skills
•Motivated to deliver to a high quality and to programme
•Commitment to professional and personal development
