Role Summary:The Bently Field Engineer for BHGE Measurement & Controls is assigned to one major Service Discipline: System Integration Engineer (SIE), Site Project Management (SPM) and Machinery Diagnostics Services (MDS). Each role is responsible for individual tasks as well as collectively meeting objectives of the Business Unit.
Essential Responsibilities:In the role of Bently Field Engineer, you will:SIE Functions

  • Install, configure, troubleshoot thin client application solutions
  • Analyze, quantify, & report security vulnerability risks
  • Design & implement secure integration solutions that meet customers’ expectations
  • Measure integration solutions’ effectiveness and performance from customers’ perspective
  • Stay abreast of new technologies and best practices and translate these factors into product solutions and services
  • Provide system integration & digital security support to regional service teams (for applications such as Fleet, SmartSignal, Meridium, & future Predix solutions)
  • Provide commercial and technical support to regional teams
  • Provide input / feedback / review to Technology regarding new & existing hardware and software products
  • Install & maintain field sensor and monitor systems in industrial settingsSPM Functions:
  • Manage projects / service installing Bently Nevada hardware & software in a wide variety of machine types encountered in the Oil & Gas, Power Generation, Pulp & Paper, and other process industries
  • Perform AutoCAD design of all necessary machinery modifications, transducer brackets, cable routing, junction boxes, monitoring systems, computers, software, and all project aspects to retrofit for transducers & monitoring systems
  • Assure service is executed in accordance with the cost allocations that are budgeted, including direct cost and labor hour mgnt
  • Assure the service is executed in a timely manner & in accordance with the customer’s schedule
  • Understand contractual commitments
  • Coordinate different personnel and groups involved in the service contract
  • Supervise mechanical and electrical sub-trades, and machine disassembly / reassembly
  • Install transducers and configure monitoring systems
  • Identify problems and take the initiative to eliminate those problems for project / service success
  • Complete installation documentation
  • Monitor site safety during site execution
  • Perform installations, commissioning, and trouble-shooting of Bently Nevada Hardware and Software Products and Solutions at BHGE and customer locations
  • Timely completion of standard service reports, invoicing packages, and other administrative requirements
  • Drive customer satisfaction through commitment to quality
  • Support the growth initiatives of the businessMDS Functions:
  • Diagnose machinery problems based upon: vibration data, operational data, & customer communications
  • Provide technical direction, and assistance to the customer, user, and other GE field personnel in the diagnostic and long-term maintenance of Bently Nevada equipment and customers’ rotating machinery
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to foresee a customer’s need for information or work practice to achieve higher plant reliability
  • Perform installations, commissioning, and trouble-shooting of Bently Nevada Hardware and Software Products and Solutions at BHGE & customer locations
  • Complete timely standard service reports, invoicing packages, and other administrative requirements
  • React to customer required travel in a timely manner, while bringing all required service equipment
  • Complete documentation of findings / recommendations
  • Create, review and interpret technical reports
  • Track, report, and forecast financials on individual projects on a regular basis
  • Professionally communicate with customer and other team members
  • Perform Asset Mgnt / Reliability Service Studies
  • Prepare timely Work Order requests, Quick Quotes and Invoicing packages
  • Assess job site Safety and follow company policies
  • Understand Contract Term & Conditions commitments

  • Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) from an accredited college or universityEligibility Requirements:
  • Travel up to 80% of the time, as required
  • Work significant over-time
  • Desired Characteristics:
  • Demonstrate authority and assurance dealing with people
  • Self-starter with minimal supervision requirement; able to work independently; ability to prioritize, organize work, and meet deadlines
  • Ability to set / meet aggressive targets and work under stressful working conditions
  • Strong computer skills using MS Office software
  • Electronics and/or mechanical trouble shooting skills. “Hands-on approach”PLEASE NOTE: Pasadena, TX is the preferred location, however other U.S. locations may be considered.
