About the Role

The primary focus will be to direct and grow business development activities through personal sales.

The job holder will report to the Laboratory Manager and, along with the current BDE, will provide strategic and practical leadership of the Group‘s sales efforts.  The primary focus will be to direct and grow business development activities through personal sales.  The cultivation of new and existing client relationships and monitoring of competitor information in order to increase penetration of sales targets is key to the position.

The role will also include but not limited to:

•Identify and pursue key potential business opportunities through research, networking and prospecting.

•Achieve personal targets for conversion of new business.

•Maintain complete updated status of all information relating to contacts, meetings and accounts, updating CRM databases as appropriate.

•Maintain effective ongoing communications with customers and colleagues.

•Maintain a visible Sales Plan and effective 4-8 week rolling visit plan

•Communicate emerging or changing trends as well as any issues which may impact present/future sales.

•Optimise Intertek Wilton’s visibility and presence in the market place, enhancing the penetration of key potential and existing customers.

•Along with the Laboratory Manager and current BDE, lead and direct the marketing of Intertek Wilton’s capabilities, throughout the UK and Europe

Key Relationships

•Required to liaise with others inside/outside the department in a proactive and reactive manner in order to provide or obtain information to keep people informed so that work is completed effectively

•The job holder will also build relationships and contacts to facilitate future exchange of information.

Additional Information

The role holder will be required to work 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

Domestic travel to clients, prospects and Intertek sites will account for at least 60% of the working time and intermittent international travel may be required.

About You

Required skills and experience

•Extensive and proven sales experience, preferably within a global, multi-divisional organisation that offers analytical/technical business services. This includes the development of sales strategies and a strong track record of progressive sales achievements

•Ability to maintain a client/visit populated calendar over a continuous 4-6 week cycle with 25 – 30 site visits expected within this time period.

•Ability to generate business leads, quotations and contact whether in the office or on the road.

•Previous experience of CRM’s for monitoring sales, contacts, meetings etc and proficiency in Office packages such as Word and Excel.

•Qualified at Bachelor level, or equivalent, in a technical field
