Division Order Analyst

JOB SUMMARY: The Division Order Analyst is responsible for determining the ownership of minerals through detailed research and analysis of leases, title opinions, ownership documents, and other contracts. The incumbent must calculate mineral acres, determine royalty rates, and resolve ownership interest discrepancies. Through timely and accurate correspondence with various internal and external stakeholders, such as interest owners, operators, royalty owners, and land personnel, the Division Order Analyst will work to ensure proper distribution of revenue from the production activities associated with Cimarex assets.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  The following represents the majority of the duties performed by the position, but is not meant to be all-inclusive nor prevent other duties from being assigned when necessary:
  • Determine ownership of minerals through the analysis of leases, title opinions, operating agreements, and other contracts and legal documents
  • Resolve ownership interest discrepancies regarding joint interest billings, revenue, and lease obligation payments
  • Establish correct ownership percentages by calculating mineral acres and determining royalty rates on oil and gas leases
  • Work with Land personnel in order to resolve title defects that may affect division of interest ownership
  • Ensure the payment of royalties are timely, accurate, and in compliance with state and federal statutes
  • Coordinate with personnel from various departments such as other land administration associates, accounting, and land in order to properly process payments and prepare external correspondence
  • Communicate payment processes and other related information with working interest owners, operators and royalty owners
  • Maintain proper documentation on matters related to probate and transfers of interest owners
  • Assist with special projects such as audits, escheat, acquisitions and divestitures
  • Other tasks as assigned 
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: 
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in oil and gas land/lease/division orders
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience with division orders and land administration preferred
  • Strong working knowledge of Division Order, legal and/or title experience preferred
  • Must be familiar with various State (OK, TX, NM), Federal and BLM regulations and associated websites (OCC, TRR, etc.)
  • Ability to effectively communicate information to interest owners and personnel at all levels of the organization
  • Experience with land software databases (Enertia preferred)
  • Skilled in identifying and implementing improvements to work processes and systems
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with an emphasis on Word and Excel
  • Must be detail oriented with the ability to multi-task with attention to accuracy
  • Must be team player who possesses the ability to adapt to a changing and fast paced work environment
 
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Work is typically performed indoors in an office environment.  Incumbents must be able to perform work which requires typing, sitting, standing and walking.  In the event that incumbent visits operations worksite, personal protective equipment including but not limited to head protection, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety shoes, and flame resistant clothing is required. Safety rules, including OSHA and DOT requirements are strictly enforced.
