Job Summary

This advisory level position advises all operating teams on best practices, techniques and standards related to drilling, completions or production operations in order to solve complex problems and build efficiencies across business units.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Leads failure investigations including drilling-related incident review and response
  • Support exploration efforts as needed and promote technical knowledge sharing across the drilling discipline through training and mentorship
  • Provides recommendations and advises in particular area of expertise
  • Evaluates current practices to identify improvement opportunities company wide
  • Identifies and tracks new technologies in their area of expertise that have potential to benefit the company
  • Interprets drilling and testing information
  • Confers with scientific, engineering and technical personnel to resolve design, research and testing problems
  • Assists engineering and other personnel to solve operating problems
  • Advises on operating standards across all business units
  • Reviews and manages best management practices and policies across the drilling commmunity
  • Seeks opportunities to streamline processes, optimize productivity and eliminate inefficiencies
  • Acts as an integral contributor to field leadership and interfaces extensively with field operations
  • Cultivates and manages career development and training plans for entry-level engineers and summer engineering interns

Job Specific Skills

  • Expert knowledge of oil and gas operations
  • Expert knowledge of oilfield equipment operations, including their designs, uses, repairs and maintenance
  • Expert knowledge of industry safety and environmental standards, requirements and regulations
  • Advanced knowledge of administrative procedures in order to prepare and maintain reports, budgets and administrative records as required
  • Ability to show flexibility in response to change and adapt to and accommodate new policies, procedures and technology
  • Ability to ensure all employees are operating within all Chesapeake, state and federal guidelines, policies and regulations

Education

Minimum: High School diploma

Preferred: Bachelor’s degree – from accredited university

Experience

Minimum: 15+ years related work experience
