Job Summary

The Field Facilities Engineer II is an intermediate-level technical position which, under general supervision and guidance, provides functional expertise within the facilities and pipeline discipline. The field engineer serves as a liaison between the facility, operations, construction, and production teams and will work to ensure alignment on facility design, construction, commissioning, and maintenance.  In addition, the field engineer will conduct technical reviews on facility equipment to identify failure trends and make recommendations on design changes which balance engineering best practices, operability, and cost.   The successful candidate must be able to communicate technically complex projects to various stakeholder groups at different levels within the organization.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Supports design and execution of safe, reliable and commercially sustainable facilities and related infrastructure
  • Serves as technical point of contact for field on infrastructure assets, including: facilities, pipelines/piping systems, salt water disposal, electrical distribution systems, and related equipment
  • Ensures technical recommendations balance the needs of various stakeholder groups and captures best value for the company
  • Participates in engineering design through process modeling, P&ID creation/review, PHA participation, and developing equipment and construction packages
  • Ensures new facilities meet engineering design intent through active participation during construction, capturing redlines, and leading PSSRs before commissioning
  • Works with operations to understand and troubleshoot facility failures using Root Cause Analysis; identifies trends, and recommends go-forward preventative design changes or maintenance practices
  • Works with operations to effectively capture lessons learned and process improvement opportunities
  • Remains current with company and industry standards while continuing personal technical development
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Job Specific Skills

  • Solid knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and sound engineering judgment to the design and production of oil and gas facilities
  • Strong knowledge and practical application of technical assessment for facility and pipeline design alternatives and production optimization opportunities
  • Understanding of basic oil and gas production operations activities
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written
  • Ability to use rigorous logic, critical thinking skills and methods to solve difficult problems with effective solutions
  • Ability to understand and perform project economic analyses
  • Ability to work on multiple projects in a deadline-driven environment and effectively respond to urgent operational issues requiring Facilities related support
  • Ability to apply general project management skills and toolsets
  • Ability to lead risk assessments/methodologies and participate in process hazard analyses (PHAs)
  • Prepares and effectively delivers, detailed technical presentations to coworkers, partners, and management
  • Ability to facilitate technical discussions and lead knowledge transfer among coworkers

Education

  • Minimum: Bachelor’s degree – from accredited university
  • Minimum: One of the following:
    • Bachelor’s degree – from accredited university – Engineering from an ABET Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC) program, or
    • Professional Engineer (PE) license, or
    • Master’s degree – from accredited university – Master’s of Engineering degree from a program in which the correlating Bachelor’s degree is accredited by the ABET EAC

Experience

  • Minimum: 2 – 5 years related work experience
