Role Summary:The Field Engineer is a key part of the operations team responsible for design, planning, execution, and troubleshooting of Asset Condition Monitoring Systems focused on meeting customer and business goals. This position will be focused on site management (projects based) needs of the business.
Essential Responsibilities:It will also place high emphasis on supporting client needs as they pertain to evaluating machinery condition based on rotordynamic analysis; installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining protection system hardware; installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining monitoring system hardware & software.In the role of Field Engineer – Site Leader, you will:

  • Manage projects / service installing Bently Nevada hardware and software in a wide variety of machine types encountered in the Oil & Gas, Power Generation, Pulp & Paper, and other process industries
  • Perform designs (using AutoCAD) of all necessary machinery modifications, transducer brackets, cable routing, junction boxes, monitoring systems, computers, software, and all project aspects to retrofit for transducers and monitoring systems
  • Supervise mechanical and electrical sub-trades, and machine disassembly / reassembly
  • Perform installations, commissioning, configuration, and trouble-shooting of Bently Nevada Hardware and Software Products and Solutions at GE and customer locations
  • Diagnose machinery problems based upon: vibration data, operational data, and customer communications
  • Provide leadership, technical direction, and assistance to the customer, user, and other GE field personnel in the diagnostic and long-term maintenance of Bently Nevada equipment and customers’ rotating machinery
  • Assure service is executed in accordance with the cost allocations that are budgeted, including direct cost and labor hour management
  • Assure the service is executed in a timely manner and in accordance with the customer’s schedule
  • Understand contractual commitments pertaining to terms and conditions
  • Track, report and forecast financials on individual projects on a regular basis
  • Coordinate different personnel and groups involved in the service contract
  • Identify problems and take the initiative to eliminate those problems for project / service success
  • Complete installation documentation
  • Perform Asset Management / Reliability Service Studies
  • Prepare timely work order requests, quotes, service reports, invoicing packages and other administrative requirements timely
  • Assess job site Safety and perform services as per GE Environmental, Health, and Safety Policies
  • Drive customer satisfaction through commitment to quality

  • Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Information Systems, or related engineering discipline from an accredited college or university (Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Information Systems, or related engineering discipline from an accredited college or university and minimum 2 years of experience in an Engineering capacity)Eligibility Requirements:
  • Travel up to 80%, as required
  • Work significant over-time
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and passport (or able to obtain a passport)
  • Obtain TWIC card
  • Desired Characteristics:
  • Minimum 2 years of project management and/or industry (energy and/or oil & gas) experience
  • Obtained or working towards Professional Engineering License
  • Demonstrates authority and assurance dealing with people
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills to convey technical concepts to business and technical personnel
  • Electronics and/or mechanical trouble shooting skills. “Hands-on approach”
  • Self-starter with minimal supervision requirement; Experience working independently; Experience prioritizing, organizing work, and meeting deadlines
  • Experience setting / meeting aggressive targets and working under stressful working conditions
  • Project management skillset
  • Strong computer skills using MS Office software
  • Knowledge of Bently Nevada products and services or other machinery protection and management systems
  • Knowledge of Reciprocating Compressors
  • Experience with Networking devices and protocols
  • Knowledge or experience with AT LEAST one or more of the following: mechanical vibration, rotating machinery vibration and/or diagnostics, rotordynamic analysis, machinery balancing and alignment
  • Public presentation & training skills
  • Knowledge of machinist tools and electrical trade.
  • Knowledge of rotating machinery operation and controls systems
  • Familiarity with tools including but not limited to: Bently Nevada TK-Series Test Kits, Thermocouple Calibrator, RTD Calibrator, handheld DMM, function generator, power supply, oscilloscope, basic hand tools (training available as needed)
  • Experience reading, interpreting, and understanding mechanical and electrical prints
  • Experience using AutoCAD
  • Basic familiarity with computer network systems
