Role Summary:Baker Hughes, a GE Company has an opening for a The Field Services Engineer – Electrical / Software. Responsible to provide direction and assistance to work groups to meet assigned objectives. In this role, you will master electrical and software control technology, work offshore servicing critical drilling and safety equipment, BOP and risers, for the best customers in the industry.
Essential Responsibilities:As the Field Service Technician / Engineer – Hydraulics, you will: • Always promote and ensure compliance to BHGE and regulatory HSE requirements.• Implement operation safety policy instructions and conduct field work in compliance with all EHS applicable regulations and employee safety practices • Ensure operational excellence in the areas of integrity, controllership, and compliance• Assemble, disassemble, repair and maintain electrical components of the BOP Stack, MUX Control Pod and Surface equipment (Central Control Unit, Driller’s, Toolpusher’s, etc.)• Assist in pre-FAT, FAT tests, and SW testing & validation• Test, install and troubleshoot Software/Hardware in the Mux BOP Control System.• Implement post-installation SIT procedures• Provide daily service reports and escalate technical issues to Support team or Product Service team and ensure regular follow-up until resolution• Assist customer in scheduling maintenance and workload• Provide on-site interpretation of data and technical instruction• Provide technical assistance through on-site guidance and training in proper operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of assigned programs and ground support equipment, including the use and proper interpretation of data and technical instructions• Anticipate requirements beyond those that immediately affect the program and assist in implementing actions to satisfy those requirements• Review reported malfunctions and identify / analyze any undesirable trends& make recommendations on findings• Review effectiveness of maintenance actions to identify training needs.
Qualifications/Requirements:• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma/GED with significant experience in a field services position)• Proven years’ experience in BOP Control Systems• Strong knowledge of UNIX-based systems; preferably real-time Operating System QNX.• Strong foundation of basic networking concept• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics• Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally for sustained durations and with short notice, minimum of up to 80% travel with offshore, drill ship / rig assignments, as requiredApplications from job seekers who require sponsorship to work in the UK are welcome and will be considered alongside all other applications.
