Role Summary:The Lead AME SW Engineer is an active and engaged contributor in a team of engineers committed to deliver results to meet project/business goals. The primary objectives of the role are to lead and perform manufacturing engineering activities in tight cooperation with project leaders, customers as well as leading other resources to perform tasks. This role requires knowledge in software and partially also in FW programming.
Essential Responsibilities:

  • Maintenance of existing software and SW-based components used in production.
  • Development of new software to facilitate and secure production
  • Maintenance and operation of infrastructure related to software and computers relating to production
  • Implementation and extension of bought SW systems for «Manufacturing Execution»
  • Identify and define improvement programs that will secure and improve manufacturing output capacity and quality.
  • Establish and maintain documentation as required to solve and provide continuity for the above tasks.
  • Improve information management systems for the manufacturing
  • Familiarize with business goals and objectives and adjust own initiative and focus to resolve critical issues for the business.Expectations:
  • Perform GE’s my learning trainings according to learning plan deadlines.
  • Perform GE’s Performance Development and create individual development plan together with Manager. Follow through on agreed plan and actively contribute to own development.
  • Some customer contact can be expected – technical clarifications and Support and utilize possibilities and build relationships in the wider GE-business.
  • Support, mentor and train junior staff and operators (engineering and production)
  • Primary contact for suppliers of software components and systems
  • Lead and support Transfer of new products into production, limited to SW and FW.
  • Provide technical leadership & expertise to investigate, initiate and drive development, investment, procurement, and commissioning of equipment and manufacturing processDimensions:
  • This position is reporting to the Industrialization leader as well as projects leaders for the assigned tasks.
  • This position may include interaction with the customer, supplier and other local and global departments within the GE organization.
  • This position is mainly based in an office environment, but may in short periods include travelling to other locations.Authority/mandate:
  • Plan and lead projects, call for resources, make decisions and lead other resources in a team of engineers, including:
  • Call for specification/information on tasks given on new product deck.
  • Call for resources from Department Manager, Supply Chain or though project leader to execute projects/tasks.
  • Stop design- or production work upon detection of a possible quality issue and call for support from technical leaders
  • Highlight potential causes of delay to projects
  • Can be given mandate to create/review/approve/release procedures, routings, parts, documents and processes.
  • Call for meetings for support to any task including suggesting improvements in products, processes or organization.
  • Implement improvements towards products and work processes with approval from applicable technical leader.
  • Can be appointed deputy to Department Manager on an area/field/function.
  • Qualifications/Requirements:
    • Bachelor’s degree or more in applicable Engineering field (Computer Science preferred)
    • Experience with Object Oriented software development.
    • Proven ability to be able to analyze challenges and propose practical and efficient solutions
    • Ability to progress and solve tasks that do not yet have an established path to solution (contribute to find possible ways as well as executing established ways to solution)
    • Ability to work in team with other engineers, gather information, share knowledge, include and utilize team as well as supporting organizational development.
    • Desired Characteristics:
      • Ability to perform in team, with tight deadlines and pressure.
      • Ability to understand business goals, adjust initiative accordingly and inform/enable organization on status of critical projects.
      • Good oral and written communication skills in English and at least one Scandinavian language
      • Experience with: C#, LabVIEW, MATLAB, SQL
      • Experience working in SAP Biz One at advanced level
      • Ability to interface successfully with all levels of the organization
      • Judgment, tact and diplomacy in dealing with internal and external customers
      • Proactive with flexible attitude
