Software Product Manager for Seismic Processing and Geophysics, United States Houston

As part of the Geophysics solution group under the Exploration and Reservoir Solutions Technical Business Line this role is responsible for the management of the Seismic Processing software product family. The Product Manager’s primary roles include; managing the software development team, defining a long term strategy for the portfolio, driving new business engagements with third parties, and overseeing our cloud deployment strategy. This role is a combination of a Product Marketing Manager, Business Development, and Research, and will not require hands-on seismic processing activities.

This person is responsible for the successful development of new products as well as the product lifecycle management for their assigned products. They will be responsible for the day to day management of a software development team in coordination with the development lead and scrum master.

In coordination with the Geophysics R&D manager, they will design the overall business strategy, investment model, vision, and scope of the products incorporating the latest technologies & research. They will also drive the cloud deployment strategy for our seismic processing portfolio.

They are also expected to assist sales and operations in the rollout and training of their products and provide technical content as needed.

They will establish partnerships and relationships with internal and external customers, third parties and industry thought leaders. They are accountable to bring in funded development when appropriate, identify new product and business opportunities and industry and competitor changes that may require new strategies or revisions of the business plan. They are responsible for the packaging, pricing, and marketing of said product families.

They are expected to participate in industry associations, organizations and consortiums, including attending events and contributing to publications.

Development Requirement:

  • Undergraduate degree in Geophysics or equivalent
  • Completion of a graduate degree in Geophysics is preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in oil and gas.
  • 5+ years of experience in software development or process management.
  • Familiar in software development methodologies such as agile/scrum.
  • Proficient with seismic data processing preferably utilizing SeisSpace.
  • Proficient within prestack imaging workflows in time and depth including migration velocity analysis workflows.
  • Familiar with software commercialization or other business models.
  • Familiar with design thinking methodologies or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with DecisionSpace and or Well Seismic Fusion desirable.

Interpersonal Skills

  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills. Ability to articulate a problem and translate it into a written report
  • Proactively research oriented.
  • Strong organization and project management skills. The ability to manage multiple projects, following through from start to completion with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work in multicultural environments.

Development Requirement:

  • 10+ years of experience in oil and gas.
  • 5+ years of experience in software development or process management.
  • Proficient in software development methodologies such as agile/scrum.
  • Proficient with seismic data processing preferably utilizing SeisSpace.
  • Proficient within prestack imaging workflows in time and depth including migration velocity analysis workflows.
  • Proficient with Forward modeling, Illumination and Visibility analysis.
  • Proficient with AVO conditioning and attributes generation.
  • Proficient with Azimuthal prestack analysis.
  • Familiar with software commercialization models.
  • Familiar with design thinking methodologies or equivalent.
