Job Summary

The Staff Facilities Engineer is a mid-level technical position who, under general direction and guidance, provides functional expertise within the facilities and pipeline arena. Conducts advanced engineering studies and/or development of design packages.  May be assigned a role in support of a specific Business Unit’s capital development plan or serve as a Project Manager for major projects across Business Units.  Holds himself/herself accountable for direct impacts upon a project’s viability or its quality of service via personal contributions.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develops safe, reliable and commercially sustainable project plans for oil and gas field facilities and related infrastructure
  • Provides recommendations for technical design and execution options in any of the following focus areas: facilities, pipelines/piping systems, salt water disposals and related equipment/systems.
  • Conducts cost benefit and/or risk-based design analysis on projects and opportunities to capture additional value
  • Performs detailed process / mechanical engineering design, modeling and/or project management oversight to develop complete project deliverables
  • Coordinates project approval, engineering design, procurement, construction and on-site commissioning and start up activities
  • Provides ongoing facilities engineering support for well site facilities, pipelines, compression and optimization projects
  • Provides project management support in the development and execution of capital projects
  • Captures lessons learned and process improvement opportunities to share company-wide
  • Serves as peer mentor to less experienced engineers
  • Remain current with company and industry standards while continuing personal technical development
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Job Specific Skills

  • Solid knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of the oil and gas facilities
  • Strong knowledge and practical application of economic evaluation and technical assessment for facility and pipeline design alternatives and production optimization opportunities
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written
  • Ability to use rigorous logic, critical thinking skills and methods to solve difficult problems with effective solutions
  • Ability to understand and perform project economic analyses
  • Ability to work on multiple projects in a deadline-driven environment
  • Expertise in general project management skills and toolsets
  • Expertise in risk assessments/methodologies and conducting process hazard analyses (PHAs)
  • Prepares and effectively delivers, detailed technical presentations to coworkers, partners, and management
  • Assumes leading role in technical discussions, knowledge transfer, and participates in peer reviews across multiple assets

Education

  • Minimum: Bachelor’s degree – from accredited university
  • Minimum: One of the following:
  • Bachelor’s degree – from accredited university – Engineering from an ABET Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC) program, or
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license, or
  • Master’s degree – from accredited university – Master’s of Engineering degree from a program in which the correlating Bachelor’s degree is accredited by the ABET EAC

Experience

  • Minimum: 5 – 8 years related work experience
